For most law students, football season is a great excuse to get out of the library and into the stadium. But on Monday, September 19, football will be coming to the Boyd Law Building. Students will hear from Iowa Law alum Karin Nelsen, Vice President of Legal and Human Resources for the Minnesota Vikings, and Jen Stockman, the Vikings’ Human Resources Director, about their career experiences. This event will be especially informative for students seeking to work in-house at a business and for students interested in learning more about sports law.

Nelsen began her career at law firms in Minneapolis and Seattle, before going in-house for Cargill, where she rose to become North America General Counsel. In March 2016, Nelsen accepted her current position as Vice President of Legal and Human Resources for the Minnesota Vikings.

Aaron Jansen, a member of the Sports Law Society, said “attendees will hear first-hand from someone who is working in the sports industry. It should be a very informative and interesting symposium.”

The Career Services Office will be hosting the event, which is co-sponsored by the Sports Law Society and the Intellectual Property Law Society. Jansen and Michael Farley, another member of the Sports Law Society, will be assisting Career Services with moderating the event.

Come to BLB 245 on September 19 at 3:30 p.m. to hear about Nelsen’s experiences in sports law and with the Vikings, as well as Stockman’s experience as the Vikings’ Human Resources Director. Snacks will be provided by Career Services. You can RSVP to the event on Symplicity.
