The IPLS is hosting elections for board positions on April 7. The elections will run from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Room 165D. Members of IPLS can come in and vote any time between those hours.

If you’re interested in applying for IPLS board, you must nominate yourself, state the positions you are interested in and explain why.

All of the positions this year are open. The IPLS board positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Publicity Coordinator, and Event Planning Coordinator. The President works closely with Professor Rantanen, the faculty advisor for IPLS, to reach out to potential speakers and plan events. The President is also responsible for handling alumni relations. The Vice President assists with the mentorship program, helps organize the annual IPLS Alumni Panel, and next year will be responsible for coordinating speakers’ arrivals.

The Treasurer is responsible for IPLS’ finances, preparing a budget for the club, and working on finding additional sources of funding. The Publicity Coordinator handles the publicity for all of IPLS’ events, including creating fliers to hang up around the law school, posting about events on social media, and coordinating with the administrative suite to place advertisements on the digital signs. The Event Planning Coordinator deals with the logistics of the events and is in charge of reserving rooms, ordering food, and helping to plan any social hour events put on by IPLS.

Meg Hingtgen, the current Event Planning Coordinator, has found serving on the board of IPLS to be a rewarding experience. “Being on board is a great way to network with other members of the IP community,” Hingtgen explained.
