As the class of 2014 graduated, we asked a few students connected with the Innovation, Business & Law Center to reflect on their defining moments at the College of Law.

Some students discussed their participation in the trial and appellate advocacy programs, particularly the intellectual property (IP) advocacy competitions. Allison Blake, now corporate counsel at Sanford Health, a Sioux Falls, SD-based healthcare delivery system, credited her IP advocacy work for helping her develop public speaking skills.

Other students talked about the relationships they built with professors. Curtis Bankers, now an associate at Sherman & Howard’s Denver, CO office, pointed to taking Corporate Finance as his defining moment because it introduced him to Prof. Robert Miller, who became Bankers’s “closest adviser” for the rest of his time at Iowa.

Other students in the video include:

Dan Garon, Product Manager, Zynga (San Francisco Bay Area, CA)

Justin Petersen, Associate Attorney,  Sidley Austin LLP (Chicago, IL)

Sabrina Danielson, Judicial Law Clerk to Hon. Leonard T. Strand, Northern District of Iowa (Sioux City, IA)

Christopher Estwick, Associate Attorney, FraserStryker PC LLO (Omaha, NE)
